(NC) – Add some colour to the holidays by going green with the gift of one of Toshiba’s environmentally conscious laptops, TVs or Blu-ray/DVD players.
Toshiba of Canada offers tips for environmental gift givers everywhere:
- Look for the Energy Star symbol to identify products which help reduce energy costs without compromising quality and lead to fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
- Select a laptop registered and qualified under the Electronic Product Environmental Assessment Tool EPEAT.net.
- Consider a laptop or TV with LED backlit technology. They use less energy.
- Consider a Toshiba laptop with the Eco Utility function to reduce power consumption and monitor power savings.
- Dim the laptop display screen to save energy and extend battery life.
- Plug home electronics, such as laptops, TVs and Blu-ray/DVD players, into power strips; turn the power strips off when the equipment is not in use – while in standby mode they still draw electricity.
- Don’t throw your old laptop away. Toshiba’s Environmental Recovery and Recycling Effort (TERRE) is a free program that disposes and recycles laptops of any manufacturer in an environmentally respectful manner www.toshiba.ca/terre.
